Handmade Pillows

Cute and inexpensive pillows!
I bought this entire bolt of fabric for $2 at the Habitat For Humanity store.I decided how large to make the pillows by measuring the arm of the sofa.

Then I folded the fabric over and marked measurements with a pencil. Fold the pretty sides facing each other. Because it's folded you will have three sides that need to be sewed.

Sew up both sides and then the bottom, leaving a hole large enough to fit you hand through (so you can stuff later).

Trip corners and then flip the pillow inside out, with the pretty side now on the outside.

I bought transfer paper (you can purchase at Staples, Walmart, etc.) I then googled "Antique French Stamps" and then clicked on "Images." I saved images I liked to my computer. Be sure to flip the image  (so it's backwards) and print the on transfer paper.
It will look like this. It looks backwards, but when it's ironed onto the fabric, it will look right.

Lay the transfer paper on the fabric and measure to ensure you align it properly. Also, make sure the fold it at the top.
Iron on the transfer according to the directions.

Stuff your pillow. You will have the gap at the bottom to sew up. You can hand stitch this.
Voila, a pillow! It only cost about $1.00 to make!

I found this industrial dollie in Tryon, NC. This is a great place to find interesting and unique items. Here is the link to their site: http://www.architecturalwarehouse.com/

I'll be adding a nice piece of glass and this will be my new coffee table.
Stacking old trunks and suitcases makes a nice entry table.
I've added some old burlap and candles.

Bowtie Chicken Spinach Salad
1 box Bowtie Pasta
1 bottle of sun-dried tomatoes in oil (bought at Walmart)
salt & pepper
chili power or crushed red chili pepper
1 bag of parmesan cheese
1 bag of fresh prewashed or organic spinach
1 can garbanzo beans (drain can) or pine nuts (if you want to splurge)
1 small bottle of a good imported olive oil
1 box precooked chicken breast

Cook Bowtie Pasta according to package directions and drain.
Run cold water over pasta.
Add the contents of the bottle of sun-dried tomatoes in oil.
Add salt, pepper, and chili powder or crushed red chili peppers
Stir
Add spinach, cheese, and garbanzo beans or pine nuts
Pour olive oil over the salad. Stir. Eat.

This is a very tasty salad. It feeds a crowd and EVERYONE who has tried it has loved it!
On this particular visit to the grocery store, they were out of bags of spinach, so I had to improvise. I'm not a big fan of lettuce, so I recommend using the spinach.
